Understanding Solar Electricity

The four basic components of a Sunwatt Solar System are:

  • Solar modules
  • Solar tracker
  • Inverter
  • Grid connect electric meter

Your home becomes a mini power station when the solar modules (or panels) are connected to your commercial electricity supply. Solar panels will convert light into solar electricity.

Based on your electricity requirements the appropriate number of modules are installed on a north-facing roof.

The solar tracker tracks the movement of the sun to maximize exposure to the modules for greater electricity conversion.

The inverter converts the electricity from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) for use in your home.

The grid connect electric meter records your net power use, spinning forwards when you use electricity from the grid, and backwards when your system generates more electricity than you need.
