Voller Energy receives support from the LIFE-IC Incubator for fuel cell market research

Voller Energy Limited, the world’s first developer of fuel cell technology portable generators and battery chargers, today announces that it has received support from the LIFE-IC Incubator, Sheffield to conduct market research. The research will be focused on exploring new markets for portable fuel cell technology in power tools, and in the leisure industry. Voller Energy anticipates introducing products to these sectors during 2005. They will operate without producing carbon emissions.

The LIFE-IC Incubator based in Sheffield is funded by the Carbon Trust’s Innovation Programme and by the European Regional Development Fund through South Yorkshire’s Objective 1 Programme.

Fuel cells can be used to recharge the batteries in cordless power tools. Often there is no mains power on construction sites, or the user is working on scaffolding or in a confined space, so cannot use a conventional generator to charge the batteries.

Similarly on-board yachts there is often a 12v circuit powered from car batteries. These batteries can be charged using a fuel cell in a fit and forget solution developed by Voller Energy. The system could also be used in RV’s (Recreational Vehicles) and Caravans.
